The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' saying that draws so many fans into the National Football League

This outcome could have created things up for the New England Patriots to move back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a schedule that provides them an advantage over their eight and two competitors

Over in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had ideal outcomes to arrange a major confrontation next week, while our player of the week is pursuing milestones as well as the Most Valuable Player award

The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?

Did Josh Allen try too much or could it simply have been a bad day for the Bills?

Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Bills to address

The Buffalo squad had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against Miami but were outperformed from the start as the Dolphins emerged as 30-13 victors in an eye-opening result - and performance

MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's initial first down in the third period and first points in the fourth - yes the Dolphins had 10 days to prepare but it was nonetheless a massive egg laid by one of the NFL's best offenses

Tua Tagovailoa passed for two touchdowns but running back De'Von Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns

Bottling up the NFL's top rushing attack was also key, with James Cook and company recording just 86 yards, their fewest of the season and slightly more than half their 161.5-yard average

Then there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone meaning a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that Miami converted to seven points just later

It was typical 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defensive side and Josh Allen attempting to do too much to rescue his squad out of it - rather than the calm, controlled, well-balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year

Miami have served up a varied performances this season so the verdict is uncertain on if this is the start of something, but for the Bills they'll need an instant response in a tough game against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are sneaking into a nice lead at the top of the American Football Conference East

In Focus - New England Identify Route to Unexpected First Place

Speaking of the New England, they're among three different eight and two squads in the NFL, all American Football Conference teams, but are they the best?

You can pick holes in New England, Denver and the Colts really for feasting on the lesser sides, with just five of their combined twenty-four wins achieved against opponents with a winning record - and one of those was the Indianapolis beating the Broncos

Denver defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the final quarter while Indianapolis can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's win in Tampa to their primtime success in Buffalo seems like a declaration

Their pair of losses came in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven straight wins, similar to the Broncos, since then - but taking down Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a week off to get ready was significant

Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials continue to be discussed, and he certainly earns point for courage after taking some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his side to success

The defense is solid and rookie rusher TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - becoming just the fifth different ball carrier to exceed 22mph this season on his first score

While you can debate who 'the top team' is technically, the Pats should be favourites to finish with the top record thanks to their remaining opponents - which includes just a single matchup against a successful opponent, albeit a significant contest against the Bills

Visiting the Ravens is also tough, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Chiefs to play twice, the Chargers (who might also challenge for top seed but face the same problem) and additionally the Green Bay on the fixture list

The Colts also play the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two matchups with the 5-4 Jaguars to contend with. There's a long way to go but the door is open for a surprise top seed in the AFC

Coming Up - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Week 11 Showdown

Two teams with solid claims to be better than all of the three eight and two teams are NFC West opponents the Seattle and Rams, who each put up 40 burgers to go to 7-2 ahead of the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the two in LA

Both have secured four victories in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an elite level (although Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with top receivers, and defensive units allowing under 20 points a contest

Each could easily be without a loss as too - particularly the Rams as their two defeats came in overtime against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a game-winning field goal with the final play blocked and returned by the Eagles for a score

Seattle also lost to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in week one, before losing to the last kick of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they are truly two of the best sides in the league

The next matchup on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season to date

Player of the Week - Jonathan Taylor
