Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for concerns to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

The manager lamented recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period like this with performances so bad.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
